The SMS project presented its research’s results in terms of monitoring seawater chemical and ecological status in the European Parliament on the 10th of July 2017.

Paula Ciaurriz from CEMITEC presented her PhD Thesis "Biofunctionalization of nanostructures for sensing applications", included in the field of nanobiotechnology, presents the development of diverse strategies for the biofunctionalization of nanostructures of different properties, to be used in sensing applications such as immunoassays and immunosensors. This work is addressed from two approaches: (i) nanoparticles and (ii) nanostructured surfaces.

Ana López Hernández from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid(UPM) has presented her doctoral thesis in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry and Materials at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Madrid entitled "Label-free Optical Biosensors based on Resonant Nanopillars" that develops a research work applicable to the work framework of the project.

On April 4 and 5, 2017, the 2nd edition of the Industrial Research Meeting (IRM) took place at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

At the end of June this year the LASER World of PHOTONICS took place in Munich, Germany. With 1.293 exhibitors and more than 32.000 visitors from 90 countries, it is the world’s leading photonic trade fair. One of the exhibitors was MULTITEL ASBL from Belgium and consortium member of the FP7 project EnviGuard.

EnviGuard had a successful day at the Oceans of Tomorrow workshop held as part of the MTS/IEEE Oceans’ 17 Aberdeen Scotland exhibition and conference held 21-22nd June. Dennis Gowland (Northbay Shellfish Ltd.) on behalf of the EnviGuard Consortium presented the project within the workshop in a Power Point slide during 20mins plus 10 mins questions.

EnviGuard has been invited to present the project results at the Oceans of Tomorrow event in Aberdeen at the workshop session on Thursday 22nd June.

The presentation entitled "ENVIGUARD - a real-time multi-sensor in a small package with a big future!" will be perfomed by Mr. Dennis Gowland from North Bay Shellfish Ltd.
